I had another crack at the Scrapbooking Memories Masters competition again this year. Not a winner, but I did get an Honourable mention, which is super awesome.
Here are all my pages I created for the competition.
TASK 1: SINGLE
LAYOUT – 5X7in PHOTO
{Believe in Your Dreams}
About
this project:
Although I love this beautiful photo of my
daughter, I really struggled to match papers to the colours in the photograph.
So I decided to create my own background using texture paste and watercolours
on a white cardstock. I then also coloured some Heidi Swapp diecuts to match! Perfect!
With amazing photos such as this, I try to use the layout to give a special
message to my daughter; in this one, encouraging her to believe in her dreams. It
is such a privilege to be able to share your wishes with your children in a
powerful, visual, never-to-be-forgotten way!

TASK 2:
LAYOUT WITH AT LEAST 3 PHOTOGRAPHS
{He has my heart}
About
this project:
When I found these mini-prints of my wedding,
straight from the photographic proofs folder, I knew they would look awesome in
a multi-photo layout. I even left the photos in their original printed film
strips! When I look at my wedding photos, I always laugh that I chose purple
for my bridesmaid dresses and flowers – I really don’t even like purple! So
this layout was a good challenge to dig through my stash and find some perfect
purple accents to finish the page! And in the end the white, black and gold
looks awesome alongside the purple flowers!

TASK 3: LAYOUT
with BLING
{This bond}
About
this project:
I simply love this old photo of me and my
grandad, and I love that I can create a layout to help me remember and cherish
the special bond we had! And while I love gold and use it often, I really
wanted to challenge myself by going SILVER on this page. My favourite thing was
heat embossing the chipboard circle flourish from 2Crafty in silver – once I
had that done, all the other elements fell into place around that focal point.
I was able to layer papers, threads, fabric and embellishments around it,
including lots of flashes of bling!

TASK 4: LAYOUT
incorporating BUDGET SAVING/UPCYCLING
{You have style}
**Honourable mention for this layout**
About
this project:
My dear daughter Jessie certainly has her own
sense of style so I created this for her! My number one budget saving idea that
I use often, is to make photo mats from the background cardstock. In this
layout I mounted both the photo and the frame from the base cardstock. I
collected a few old bits and pieces to create the unique photo border, after
gluing and applying a layer of gesso, I was able to spray to give colour. I was
even able to wipe up some excess colour spray with muslin and then use that on
the layout!
Materials
List:
Simple
Stories patterned paper, American Crafts cardstock, Flutterby designs stencil,
DYI flair and photo tab, Jo Sonja black texture paste, Mont Marte gesso, Tim
Holtz Distress Spray stain, Charms Creations DIY heart, Heidi Swapp enamel
stickers & transparency star, Burdy’s Embellies cog, D’Lish enamel heart
stickers, Cosmo Cricket tiny text stickers, Simple Stories alphabet stickers,
Studio Calico phrase stickers, sequins, button, mini bow, muslin, resin
flowers, paper flowers.
Upcycled elements: old necklace and chains, pendant, charm, hair
clip, safety pins, eyelet hook, old clothing tag.
Thanks for looking, and thanks again to Scrapbooking Memories for the chance to enter in your great competition!
