Sassy Mood Board - November 2014

Hi everyone,

I loved this Mood Board at Sassy Scrappers:

Here is my page and a close up:

I was definitely inspired by this colour palette!
I created my own background with gelatos. I also did some stamping using the gelatos as well.
I layered some doilies with washi tape and plasters mesh under the photo and included some resin flowers, glitter bots and enamel dots.
AND I know, I have said it - but I love these Vellum Bows from Rainbow Splendour - they seriously look good on any page! LOL!

Thanks for looking,
Amanda

123 Challenge- November 2014

This was a cool challenge at 123 Challenge this month. Copper as the colour was really interesting! Luckily I had some wire, sequins and beads in that colour!

Here is my page and some close ups:

A doily and some cooper wire to create the frame around the photo (an awesome photo of me and my mum!), and then I went crazy glueing sequins and beds!
And I used one of the beautiful NEW glitter tipped feathers from Rainbow Splendour, which looks perfect nestled amongst all the cooper and golds and stars and flowers!

Thanks for looking today!

Rainbow Splendour.... PERFECT for card making!

Hi Everyone,

Secretly I am a scrapbooker, who does not make cards as often as I should. When I buy a card from the shop to go with a present, I feel guilty because surely I could find time to make something super quick with stuff from my stash? The reality is, that I find cards a challenge, so I think I avoid it- so little space to make the card balanced and looking good! Luckily this morning I was inspired by our friend Charmane, from Charms Creations who has been sharing her awesome cards on her Facebook page.

She was using these Tim Holtz distress stains
to colour the backgrounds for her cards.

This was just the inspiration I needed to get busy making cards this afternoon. Using some lovely lovelies from my Rainbow Splendour stash - namely Polaroids, plus a few bows and chevrons, these cards, with their Tim Holtz coloured backgrounds and some sequins, were so quick and easy to assemble. These six cards were done in an hour! Now I have some cards in my pocket, all ready to go for the next birthday!

Here they are:

So that was fun! And it proves it... Rainbow Splendour is a perfect embellishment for card making... even the most reluctant card maker (me) can do it!

See you soon,
Amanda

Show us Your Stuff - November Challenge

Hi everyone,

I love being on the design team for Show Us Your Stuff. There are lots of really different challenges every month, and lots of creative pages from the team. Plus it encourages us to take charge and make our own handmade embellishments, or alternatively to support some of the fabulous handmade scrapbooking embellishment businesses that we have here in Australia.

This month we are asking you to CHOOSE YOUR OWN SCRAP ADVENTURE:

Here is the criteria I chose and my page:
Word: Laugh
Embellishment: Button and Bow
Technique: Stitching
Photo Size: Square size printed from mini prints
Handmade item: Charms Creations Chevron.

I created this painted background using a DYI gelli plate (which I came home and did after an awesome class by the very inspirational Louise Nelson).
Then I finished the page with some brightly colour embellishments and stickers, as well as some wood veneer.

Thanks for looking today!

And remember, it is NOT TOO LATE - there is still time for you to join us at SUYS. So go ahead - Choose your own Scrap Adventure!

Rainbow Splendour - November Sketch #1

Hi everyone,

My turn to share at Rainbow Splendour this week!

We were ever so happy when Chloe designed a sketch for us, to use as inspiration!

Here it is.... (does it inspire you?):

And here is my layout and some close ups:

Page dedicated to my old cat JJ who we lost this year.
I used some of the latest Rainbow Splendour bows and the gorgeous hand cut feathers.
This morning, as my oldest daughter was getting dressed, I tried to put a spotty hair bow in her hair - she stopped me and said that because she was wearing a stripy shirt, there was no way she could use a spotty bow in her hair - spots and stripes don't go together according to her! Guess I didn't get the memo when I designed this page - spots, stripes, stars and hearts - total mix up of patterns! Ha!

Thanks for looking today! How have you been using your Rainbow Splendour bows?

Once upon a Sketch - October...

I liked this month's sketch and prompt at Once Upon a Sketch...

The challenge also asked you to journal about the "girl" in your life.... I took a different tack - choosing to address myself as a girl! I found this old photo of myself looking so happy and decided it was a perfect time to remind myself to embrace happiness!

Gesso background with stamping to create texture. Mist plus water for washed effect. More stamping and mist splatters to finish the background.

Journalling: Message to myself!

Embellishments include: Rainbow Splendour bow, Studio Calico stickers and cork, resin flowers, American Kraft cork, brads.

Thanks!
Amanda

123 Challenge OCTOBER....

A lovely little challenge over at 123 Challenge.....

Love this colour, so happily gathered my stuff to create this page.,.....

Honestly, these are such old papers, but combined with some mist spots (Heidi Swapp colour shine), old book paper, doily and machine stitching - I love it! I added some resin flowers and flair from D'Lish Scraps, a crotchet flower from Andi and Belle, as well as a few other bits!

I love embossing right now... which is what I did to my swirls, and I threw on some sequins while it was still hot so they stuck!
And love these October Afternoon stickers......

Great challenge at 123 this month - you should do it too!

And finished with silver and pink embellishments - all inspired by the lovely mood board!
